Men’s Breakfast Bible Study at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
Men in Bridgeport, Nebraska, and the surrounding communities are invited to the monthly Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. This gathering offers a welcoming opportunity to enjoy a good breakfast, grow in Christian fellowship, and spend meaningful time studying God’s Word. Whether you attend St. Paul’s regularly, belong to another congregation, or are simply interested in learning more about the Christian faith, you are welcome to join us.
In a busy world, men need opportunities to step away from their ordinary routines and listen together to the voice of God in Holy Scripture. Our monthly breakfast provides a relaxed setting in which men of different ages and backgrounds can ask questions, discuss the biblical text, and encourage one another in faith and Christian vocation. No previous Bible study experience is necessary, and visitors are always welcome.
Gathering Around God’s Word
The Bible study is led by Pastor Peter Preus, who has served St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport since 2024. Each gathering is centered upon the inspired Word of God as revealed in the prophetic and apostolic Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Through careful reading and thoughtful discussion, participants consider what the biblical text teaches about Christ, the forgiveness of sins, Christian life, family, work, service, and the hope of eternal life.
Christian Bible study is more than an exchange of personal opinions. We gather in humility to hear what God has spoken and to receive the wisdom, correction, comfort, and promises found in His Word. The Law reveals our sin and our need for a Savior, while the Gospel directs us to Jesus Christ, who died and rose again for our forgiveness and salvation.
Studying the Lutheran Confessions
On occasion, the group also studies selections from the Lutheran Confessions contained in the Book of Concord. These historic documents include the Augsburg Confession, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, Luther’s Small and Large Catechisms, and the Formula of Concord. The Lutheran Confessions do not replace or stand above Holy Scripture, but faithfully summarize and confess the biblical teaching received by the Christian Church.
Studying these writings helps participants understand what Lutheran Christians believe about Jesus Christ, justification by faith, Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, the pastoral ministry, prayer, and the Christian life. They also connect the congregation with the faithful confession of Christians who came before us. This provides a valuable opportunity for lifelong Lutherans and newcomers alike to grow in their understanding of historic, biblical Christianity.
Food, Fellowship, and Focus for Christian Men
The Men’s Bible Study Breakfast is also a time for friendship and mutual encouragement. Around the table, men can get to know one another, share experiences, and support each other in their responsibilities within the home, congregation, workplace, and community. Christian fellowship reminds us that we are not called to live the life of faith in isolation, but as members of Christ’s Church who bear one another’s burdens and rejoice together in God’s gifts.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church warmly invites men from Bridgeport, Bayard, Broadwater, Minatare, Morrill County, Scottsbluff, and communities throughout the western Nebraska Panhandle to attend.
