Women’s Bible Study Breakfast in Bridgeport, NE
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church invites women and girls of all ages to take part in a monthly breakfast devoted to Christian conversation, thoughtful study, and life together in the Church. This gathering is designed to offer more than a meal. It creates space to slow down, listen carefully to God’s Word, and be strengthened by the company of other Christian women. Participants do not need to be members of St. Paul’s or arrive with extensive knowledge of the Bible. Some may come with years of experience in Scripture, while others may be opening the Bible seriously for the first time. The setting is welcoming, unhurried, and centered on the conviction that God continues to speak clearly and graciously through His written Word.
A Place to Listen, Learn, and Ask Questions
Pastor Preus leads the study and helps guide the group through passages from the Old and New Testaments. Rather than rushing through a lesson, the group has an opportunity to examine the text, ask honest questions, and consider how each passage fits within the whole counsel of God. The goal is not simply to gather information, but to grow in wisdom, faith, discernment, and confidence in the promises of Christ. Holy Scripture gives language for every season of life. It speaks to joy and grief, marriage and family, work and service, temptation and repentance, suffering and hope. Above all, it reveals Jesus Christ as the Savior who bears sin, forgives the guilty, raises the dead, and gives peace to troubled consciences.
Rooted in the Historic Lutheran Confession
At selected gatherings, the women may also study portions of the Book of Concord, the collection of Lutheran confessional writings. These documents include Luther’s Small and Large Catechisms, the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, and the Formula of Concord. They are valued because they clearly express the doctrine taught in Holy Scripture and help Christians speak faithfully about what they believe. Engaging these writings gives participants a deeper appreciation for the continuity of the Lutheran faith with the historic Christian Church. The confessions address essential teachings such as the Holy Trinity, the person and work of Christ, justification by grace through faith, Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, prayer, and the life of repentance. Their purpose is not academic study for its own sake, but clarity, comfort, and faithfulness in the confession of Christ.
Christian Fellowship Across Generations
One of the distinctive blessings of the Women’s Breakfast is the opportunity for women and girls from different generations to spend time together. Younger participants can learn from the experience of older Christian women, while longtime members are encouraged by the questions, energy, and insight of those who are newer to the faith. Shared meals and conversation help build the kind of relationships that support Christian life beyond the gathering itself. Women and girls from Bridgeport, Bayard, Broadwater, Minatare, Scottsbluff, Morrill County, and the surrounding Nebraska Panhandle are welcome to attend.
